Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen wins the XD bronze medal

(Beijing, October 14) In the mixed doubles bronze-medal match of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Badminton Invitational Tournament held at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium this morning, No.4 seed Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen defeated Hong Jingyu/Bao Zilong 2-0(21-8, 21-12) to win the bronze medal.
According to the Olympics rules, the losers in the semifinals will meet to play for a bronze-medal match with the winner to get the bronze-medal. In yesterday's semifinals Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen lost to world No.1 Gao Ling/Chen Bo while Hong Jingyu/Bao Zilong were defeated by Zhang Yawen/Xie Zhongbo. So they met today to fight for the mixed doubles bronze-medal.
In the first set both sides stared to play cautiously and the match turned out to be a seesaw battle. But after 4-4, Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen broke the tie with good attack and got four points in a row to lead 8-4. Hong Jingyu/Bao Zilong fought back and managed to turn the score at 7-8. Then Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen seized the opportunity to score 10 points in a row and finally took the set by a wide margin of 21-8.
In the second set Zhao Tingting/Xu Chen kept their good performance and led the score all the way to finish the match 21-12 to win the bronze medal. Hong Jingyu/Bao Zilong got the fourth place.
