Xie Xingfang beats Zhu Jingjing 2-0 to make WS final

(Beijing, October 13) The women's singles semifinals of the 2007 International Badminton Invitational Tournament concluded at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium this evening, with second-seeded Xie Xingfang beating sixth-seeded Zhu Jingjing 2-0 (21-9, 21-13) to advance to the final, where she will meet Zhu Lin, who won the semis hands down after the withdrawal of top-seed player Zhang Ning due to an injury.
Xie Xingfang, who currently ranks second in the world, has a world title to her credit, while Zhu Jingjing, ranking behind 100 in the world rankings, has less game experience despite being full of vigor.
In the first game Xie took the initiative with powerful smashes and effective defense and soon led 5-1. Though trailing behind, Zhu Jingjing counterattacked and managed to turn the score at 5-7. The experienced Xie then seized the opportunity to score time and again and eventually took the game by a wide margin of 21-9.
The second game was almost a repetition of the first, with Xie displaying her technical superiority until she clinched the game and a berth in the final.
