(Beijing, October 13) In the first semifinal match in the men's doubles of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Badminton Invitational Tournament between China's Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng and Xu Chen/ Sun Junjie, Cai/Fu beat Xu/Sun 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) to advance to the final.

As the fouth-seeded pair at the tournament, Xu Chen/Sun Junjie was apparently inferior in technical strength before their teammates who currently ranks high on top in the world. Though Xu/Sun tried their best in the match, they failed to outplay their formidable opponents and had to miss the final after a 2-0 defeat.

Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng opened the match with an aggressive play and tight defense, while Xu Chen/Sun Junjie showed no fear but fought on in face of unfavorable situations. During the second half of the first game, the world No. 1 pair displayed their superiority and soon took the game 21-16.

In the second game, Xu Chen/Sun Junjie adjusted their tactics and led the game with 11-8. However, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng followed suit to tie the score at 12, 13 and 14. Xu/Sun again led 16-14 only to be overtaken by Cai/Fu with a fast and varied play. The match ended 21-17 in favor of the top-seeded pair.
