(Beijing, October 10) The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Badminton Invitational Tournament opened at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium today. This morning, 28 players played 14 matches in three courts. Currently, top Chinese players Lin Dan and Zhang Ning, who rank top in the world in men's and women's singles respectively, outperformed their rivals easily to enter the next round.

This morning saw the qualifying round and round of 32 played in the men's and women's singles. With the participation of a large number of Chinese players, all the matches this morning turned out to be Chinese affairs, including not only newcomers but also such superstars as world champions Lin Dan and Zhang Ning. In the first men's singles qualifying match between Ding Yang and Zhang Xin, the latter lost the first game 21-18 but fought back to take the following two 21-15 and 21-18.

Lai Chao and Wang Wanqi faced No. 1 seeds Lin Dan and Zhang Ning in the men's and women's singles respectively. Zhang Ning gave full play to her experience and skills and took the match with a 21-9, 21-10 win over Wang Wanqi. The match between Lin Dan and Lai Chao also went on smoothly, which Lin Dan having a complete control of the situation and finally outplaying Lai Chao with 21-12 and 21-7.
